Marrakech represents a new generation of musicians dedicated to keeping
the Gnawa tradition alive and true to its roots. Although their stomping
grounds are the Djemma El Fna square and the Souks in Marrakech, their
artistry and youthful exuberance has been embraced by adoring fans
all over Morocco and Southern Europe. The music featured here is a
warm up dance for the Leila ceremony which is a ritual for healing
through trance. |
