After
a long drive from Marrakech, over the High Atlas Mountains, we arrived
in Ouarzazate late in the afternoon. We checked into our hotel and
then went to the local tourist office. They told us about a tourist
venue where we could see many styles of music under one roof. The
tourist office called on our behalf and we were invited as guests.
Just as in Al Fassia we were able to record an after-hours performance
of a popular Moroccan love song from the 1950¹s written by Bouchaib
Bidoui. The instruments are the kemence (violin), dumbeck (hand drum),
lŒud (see track 3) and floor tom from a western trap kit. |
